Double Top is a football quiz played like darts, run by Joshua Tuxworth in the UK ("we", "us"). Joshua is responsible for your data. This page explains, in plain English, what we keep about you, why, who helps us run the game, and what you can do about it.
What we keep
- Your account ID: a random code made when you first open the game, so your progress can be saved.
- Your scoreboard name: the name you choose. Other players see it in games and on leaderboards.
- Your email address, only if you add one in Settings to save your progress or sign in on another phone. We use it to send you sign-in codes and nothing else.
- Your game data: coins, rating, items you've unlocked, trophies, games played and their results, your answers, daily challenge scores, and which questions you've had recently (so they don't repeat).
- Basic technical data: like every website, the servers that run the game see your IP address and browser details when you connect. We don't use these to identify you, and server logs are kept for a few days only.
We don't show adverts, we don't use tracking or advertising cookies, and we never sell your data.
On your phone
The game saves your progress and settings in your browser's own storage on your phone, so it can work offline and load quickly. This is needed for the game to work. Clearing your browser data removes it from the phone, but your account stays saved on our server.
Why we use it
- To run the game you've asked to play: saving progress, matching you with opponents, scoring, leaderboards and tournaments.
- To keep games fair: checking answers on our server and stopping cheating or abuse (our legitimate interest).
- To let you sign in on another phone, if you add an email.
Who helps us run the game
- Cloudflare hosts the game and its database.
- Supabase handles sign-in, and passes "ready" messages between phones in two-player games.
- Resend sends sign-in code emails.
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr supply the game's fonts and the sign-in code library, so they see your IP address when these load.
These companies only process data to provide their service to us. Some of them may process data outside the UK, under the safeguards UK law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and game data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, it's removed from our database straight away. Copies in automatic backups are overwritten within 30 days. Your name may stay in other players' own game history as an opponent's name.
Your choices and rights
- See your data: Settings → Your data → Download my data.
- Change your name: Settings → Account.
- Delete everything: Settings → Your data → Delete my account.
- You can also ask us to correct, restrict or explain how we use your data, or object to it. Contact us using the details below.
- If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Double Top isn't meant for children under 13. If you're under 13, please don't create an account or add an email.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for big changes, tell you in the game.
